usdaa a frame height

I understand that the USDAA board will be meeting in Feb. Hopefully one of the points for discussion will be the height of the A frame for the open dogs. Olga has opened the way for us to think about what we want with our dogs contacts. With my puppy BC Wisp, I want to be able to compete for a long time. To that end I am very reluctant to train her to perform a 6'3" aframe. Internationally the standard has changed to I believe 5'8"? If competitors in USDAA want change then we will have to make our voices heard. Now might be the time to write to the directors of the usdaa to ask for change. I have and I encourage others to do the same.

The other aspect of the 6'3" monster A-frame is the number of times you have to take it! At an AKC trial you do take the A-frame once (maybe twice if there is a FAST class). At a USDAA trial you have steeplechase 2x, GP 1x, standard 1x, then pairs, gamblers and snooker and usually 2 of those classes have at least 1 a frame. Say 4 - 6 A frames a day on a trial weekend and way more if the aframe is the 7 point obstacle in snooker or a high point in gamblers.
How many top handlers limit the number of times their dogs perform the A frame at a usdaa trial??? Why do you think they do this???? I think it will take a great deal of time and effor to see this change. After all it took years to get USDAA to lower the a frame for the mini's. ..... elizabeth

Hey everyone,
Today Freddie is 18 months old, and for his birthday i got his USDAA number. I guess that means that one of these days we will trial, but I'd sure like to see that A-Frame lowered before we do!
Did everyone write to USDAA??? If not, how about it?
