AKC Trial " 3 QQs"

Well, Wrinkles and I had a pretty successful AKC weekend. If there was no such thing as Ex. A... we would have gotten 3 QQs for a perfect 3-day weekend haha. BUT since there IS Ex. A... no QQs, just an AXJ and AX as well as 2 Ex. B JWW legs and 2 1sts and 1 2nds =) He went 3/3 in Ex. A Std for his AX and got his last leg for his AXJ the first day of the weekend. My two favorite runs of the weekend happen to be the titling runs and these are the ones shown. We seem to be having issues with his running dogwalk in trials... I can't get him to really RUN it... His aframes have actually been looking pretty good, but no matter how much I encourage him to sprint the dogwalk he still just kind of jogs along it. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong... I know I could run ahead more but it's kind of hard when theres an automatic turn off the dogwalk in these tighter courses. For those of you with running contacts, any advice or anything you see that I might be doing? Thanks!

Fantastic runs! His dog walk looks great to me. He's a big dog and he has to keep all four feet on that 12 inch board.
I really enjoyed watching your runs, especially the jumpers. Â

happy new year helen!! I thought you and wrinkles looked very smooth together!!
As far as the running DW - or running anything, I don't think you want to run too far ahead! You cant 'feed' your dog your energy from to far away! As far as the turns are concerned, I go back to the DW shuttle exercise and start to vary the position of one of the jumps to find the right place to support the DW yet get the turn. You will feel your way to it and it will change! hope this helps!!

Hey, I got razed by my friends for calling those dont count QQs but who cares. that was with Kody, my first agility boy. I dont remember if Bailey Boy QQ on the way up to Exc. B.
His DW looks fine. When I want to speed up Kody, I practice sending him over to a food target. I would use your hoop (too keep his head down) Â and place target well off the DWÂ Puts me and my position out of the picture.
Cheers,
Jean

Man has he ever sped up! Nice job. You do such an excellent job of not being lazy like some of us older folks and always pick him up after every obstacle - especially the tunnells - nice job!
