Student Video : Wisp's first Gambler's leg

newfire's picture

Wisp started out the day with her very first Q.  I was 'brave' and took a lateral lead out.  (for jumpers I took a 2 jump lead out and for snooker 1 jump!!)  I was very pleased with the teeter and with the way she was trying hard to work with me...  The A frame was a low point...  but now I have refreshed my to do list ...!!

No video of Pippen...  He got a snooker Q and came second (with a q) in Grand prix.. so now I have my Q for regionals for both shadow (who has 2 byes) and Pip...!!  a very good day all around!

Re: Student Video : Wisp's first Gambler's leg

Thanks guys!! She is a very good girl and tries hard. I have finally realized that I can expect the same performance in the show ring as I get at home. I don't know why I was letting her run me before. Having the gamblers class first (letting some of the wildness out) then running snooker (lead out to tunnel .. call over red jump ...knock red jump.. landing in tunnel before bar hits ground ...exit stage left.... which I think may occur often with Wispy! Was really good because the next time she came out to work she was all business. We got 3/4 of the way through the course then I trapped myself and was unable to move where I needed so she back jumped then we couldnt get back in synch... but for the first 10 obstacles it was just magic!

Hi Elizabeth,

It is so cool to see you and Wispy girl running at the trial! She is all grown up and fast and pretty, ;-)..

Way to go with a Q in Gamblers! Super!!

It is quite a normal thing to be a bit shell shocked when starting to show a new dog, plus when it is your first big dog and your first Border Collie.. I think you are doing quite fine, ;-).. There is no way around it: you will just have to go ahead and run her and learn to be a team and get used to each other.. Enjoy the ride, ;-)..

Olga.

Great job, Elizabeth! Looks like you had lots of fun. It is a bit scary taking your baby dog out for the first time. You did great!
