Lesson 1 - Finding the Weave Entrance

Greetings from the wintry Midwest.  I set up the course from Lesson 1 and ran Dusty and Libby this afternoon.  This was a great exercise for me because Tuesday night I was moving too soon and Dusty was failing to make his weave entry.

Lesson 1 - weave entry - gina

In this video lesson, Gina tries to find the #5 weave pole entry that comes after the 4 jump sequence in the 'find your path' lesson.

She has a hard time with, until Tim comes to understand how to help Gina and properly support the entry.

The video is almost 10 minutes, much can is learned in this video lesson.

Lesson 1 - find the path - gina

This video is of baby dog Gina expirementing with the same sequence that Pickle did earlier (see find the path - pickle). Gina is a green dog, she had not started trialing yet when this was filmed.

You can see Gina work through it and come to understand it. This was very exciting and beautiful to watch.

The video is about 5 minutes long. Enjoy!

Lesson 1 - gina - video teaser

Here is a video teaser of baby dog Gina trying to find the path by herself. She goes from having no clue, to jumping the sequence beatifully! It is awesome to see this happen. The Olga's training and philosophy really works.

Lesson 1 - find the path - pickle 2

This video is a continuation of the Lesson 1 - pickle1 video, sorry for the poorly chosen name. Probably should have made it one big video.

In the video Pickle starts getting savvy about finding his own line over the jumps to the weaves. If you handle this way, it will result in a safer run for the dog. As you won't be getting in the dogs way, by trying to physically modify the dogs path. And the dog will get faster all around, with the idea that he can figure out the best way to run.

Lesson 1 - burst of speed - pickle

Here is the second part of Lesson 1. In it Olga helps Alicia generate a burst of speed out of the weave poles and over the jump. The video is almost 10 minutes long, demonstrating how to properly execute the maneuver.

Lesson 1 - find the path - pickle

Here is part A of Lesson 1 with Pickle. The idea is that we should not get in the dog's way. The dog should be able to find his own optimum path over a sequece of jumps.

This will result in faster times, once the dog gains understanding. Not to mention a safer performance. In the first run Pickle does not understand where he is going, with some simple adjustments Pickle runs the sequence beatifully.

Please bear with me as I get rolling. I'm still trying to figure the best way to do this. These videos are in flash format. Any comments or suggestions appreciated.
