Phoenix - Lesson 13
Submitted by agilityaddict on Fri, 2007-05-04 09:10.I was having a hard time trying to figure out where to set the line to the weaves. When I made it a straight line, Phoenix sometimes crossed my path and went into the 2nd pole. I would think this is just a training issue getting her to take the straight line. The hardest part of the exercise for Phoenix was the last jump after the straight tunnel. Because they were jumping into the wall it was hard for me to get her over it without turning toward the aframe first. This is the same issue as the Masters course we posted with the jump before the teeter.

I was just listening to your discussion on Jump Height in Lesson 5 and had a question regarding consistent jump heights.

Submitted by kmanning913 on Mon, 2007-01-22 09:51.Hi Olga--This was my first attempt at using the "claw". Seq 1 is Em, Em, Daisy (focusing on her toy, not her job), Daisy.  Seq 2 is Em, Em, Daisy. Thanks!   ÂÂ

Lesson 5 seq3&5 Emmy and Daisy
Submitted by kmanning913 on Mon, 2007-01-22 09:37.Hi Olga--I had an opportunity to set this up and have a friend video. I was not happy with the surface and won't use it again. Seq 3 is Em, Em, Em, Daisy.  Seq 5 is just Emmy. I was not sure she would do that leadout, so over-emphasized it :-)

Phoenix - Lesson 5 - Sequences 3-5, Xena - Sequence 5
Submitted by agilityaddict on Thu, 2007-01-04 20:53.Here is Phoenix doing Sequences 3 to 5. Don't know what happended to 2 but she did the rear cross well but needed some help turning after the tunnel to take the straight line of jumps.
In Sequence 3 she did fine on the send to the tunnel but I kept moving over too far after my f/c and pushing her into the jump wing over the 2nd jump after the tunnel. It so hard to stand still! I thought I saw a fairly good burst of speed after the weave poles.
Sequences 4 and 5 went better than I expected (except for the knocked bars). I thought she did some nice tight turns. Phoenix does not tolerate my acclerating suddenly well as you can see but I thought I would try it as it something I would like to work on. I also see from the tapes that I really need to work on my start line stay - as as soon as I leave her she turns to face me, even though she does understand to take the jump I Iine her up in front of! I must remember not to take my eyes off her!

Phoenix - Lesson 5 - Sequence 1
Submitted by agilityaddict on Thu, 2007-01-04 20:37.This is Phoenix doing Sequence 1 of Lesson 5. I must admit I wasn't all there as on the way out to my practice I was in a 3 car pile up! I was suffering a really bad headache and mild whiplash but at least it wasn't my fault and everyone was okay! I just felt like my nerves were frazzled and that I wasn't giving Phoenix or the exercises my full attention. I think she did awesome on all the exercises other than her jumping. I guess 10 days off agility has affected her timing a little, mine too ;). This is my first time with my brand, spanking new camera!
The first time through I crossed too soon and she missed the 3rd jump - good dog!

Kola Lesson 5, Seq 1&2
Submitted by kthacher on Mon, 2007-01-01 15:50.It's SNOW agility!!!
This time it's Kola, my novice dog. First we finally completed Sequence #1. I know I didn't run a straight line after the tunnel like you said, Olga. We'll have to work on that. Then we did Sequence #2.
In both sequences, we were inconsistent. We'd get it one time, then he'd run around a jump the next time. We really had a problem with the third jump in the first sequence. As soon as I'd start my rear cross, he'd pull off the jump and go right because that was the direction I was going.
I liked all you guys in your cold weather gear. Now I don't feel so alone!
