The footing was very bad. Pippen gave me a very good run under the horrible conditions. Speed was good I thought but we had a few wide turns. a well earned Q and a third ....elizabeth
Lesson 10 second sequence Pippen

I was surprised that on the first attempt at this sequence that Pippen missed the tunnel. I think the front cross at the end of the tunnel was better for him at indicating the direction rather than the rear after exiting the tunnel. He did drive out very well that second time but was very wide.......elizabeth

I think that I will have to take lessons in ball tossing. So far I have not hit the dog with my throws, but Pippen is not as big as Gwen!!! However  I am getting pretty good at hitting the jumps!! .....elizabeth
Lesson 9 Pippen , sendaway to the tunnel

Pippen had trouble maintaining speed to the tunnel when I was positioned between the 3 and the final jump before the tunnel. When I just sent to the tunnel with a restrained start he was fine. When I added 1 jump with the restrained start he started to waiver a little. Clearly a long term project! ...elizabeth

Pippen lesson 8 after breaking it down and working short sequences
Submitted by newfire on Sat, 2007-02-03 14:38.
I practiced short segments of the course to try to improve Pippens turn in the pinwheel and tighten up the course in general. The practice certainly helped. Pippen seemed to drive through the parts that had given him trouble before. One additional change I made was in my start line set up. We used to play a game with the nursery rhyme, I'll Huff and I'll Puff and I'll blow the house down. Pippen learned to bark when I said Huff (Shadow was Puff). so I asked for a Huff at the start line. I think the difference between my first and second attempts are clear!!

I don't think I found the 'groove' to run Pippen on the sequence or the course. We were just not in synch!
Lesson 7 course 2 , 1 Pippen

Glad I was finally able to set up more of what was intended!! I thought leading out with dog on right made for a better weave pole entrance for the second course. I also liked being able to *push* the dog towards the tunnel rather than pull. The first try Pippen gave me the tunnel, then he was quite funny realizing that I wanted something else he started offering other behaviours! He then decided that he needed to pay close attention to me which is why he peeled off the jump. I had to laugh. We have not been practicing our DW (had it low for the puppy to play around). Clearly I w
