Submitted by newfire on Mon, 2008-03-10 06:37.Well I had to brag.... I was entered this past weekend in charlotte but with the weather and the flu didn't go until Sunday (nice weather forcast!!). thsi was Pippens first AKC trial since getting injured last last year, so I decided to show him this weekend at 12". I dont like running both shadow and Pippen at the same jump height since there is really not enought time to play, celebrate and cool down after there runs. Pippen ran standard first and gave me a lovely run. 20 dogs later shadow ran also giving me a lovely run. When I came to check the scores later on I was so ple

I thought I would try more of a lateral lead with shadow and go for the front cross at the 4th jump from the landing side. It produced a relatively good line but it was difficult to move backward around the jumps in the center of the pinwheel. I suspect it will be a little harder with Pippen ...elizabeth

Shadow Performance Grand Prix Qualifier Chapel Hill
Submitted by newfire on Sun, 2007-02-25 16:41.Althought shadow is the dog with the most experience, she is the toughest to run under these conditions. She has to be driven. Very difficult to try to help soften the dogwalk approach angle or help her take it easy. she won the class with this run and now has a bye for the final round at regionals ... hurrah!!!

Shadow's table part 2 the "sit"
Submitted by newfire on Fri, 2007-02-02 18:44.
One of the first things I learned with shadow was that it was a very bad idea to teach your dog to 'give me five'. I taught Shadow to give me a paw when I said give me five. Well on the table, the judge says 'five' so Shadow will oblige and lift a paw often accompanied by a bark which will often cause her to lift her other paw. At which point the judge (pre Sept 01 2006 AKC) would repeat the word 5 and shadow would oblige.

I think shadow's turns were much tighter than Pippens which surprises me since she turns like a tank. I think it is just easier for me to slip into gear with shadow since we have run together for so long! ...elizabeth
