Jaldi - AKC Nov Std

Here is Jaldi's first Standard run since retraining the teeter. I tried to do just what I've been doing in practice which is to stop just 1 step past the end of the teeter and wait for her. We were lucky that the teeter was the 2nd to last obstacle so that we could run out of the ring and have a celebration. She had a perfect teeter. I didn't ask for the bark because it was AKC. They are so picky. It might have gotten called as training. Her table was fabulous, too, and lots of people commented about it.

It's high time to standardize the teeter!

Hi guys,

Val with Jaldi has been currently working on repairing her little dog's trust in the Teeter after a scare on a substandard teeter Jaldi has encountered at a trial which scared her greatly and left her emotionally traumatized.. Thank goodness Jaldi didn't have any long lasting physical trauma from that teeter accident.

And while Val and Jaldi are making very good progress on the teeter, Val is now super vigilant when it comes to teeters..

Below is a quote from Val's post on the Coaching Forum that I think warrants an open discussion:

Wisp table,teeter,weaves

We put the 24" legs on the table for Wisp and that threw her a little!  I am using table = down and bench = sit and she seems to be getting the idea.  I am going to alternate with just running to the table and getting on it with a quick release and asking for a position followed by a quick release.

Wisp teeter, table and a frame

We have the teeter at full height now.  I don't think it is clear to wisp that I want her to be crouching down and facing forward at the end of the teeter.  She performs that way when I stand at the end of the board but it is not independent of my position.  wispy is a very verbal dog.  I tried to do a rear cross on the jump to the table and she didn't get it, but when I gave her the verbal for left she had no problem.  I guess I will have to practice using the verbals I have trained!

Dusty Video Footage

I uploaded two video clips from our New Years Eve weekend trial. However, I wasn't able to figure out how to link text with the vidoe.

Teeter Woes

Dusty's last trial was a New Years Eve weekend NADAC trial, and it was pretty much a bust. He grew more adrenalized with each successive run. His startline stay was totally gone by the 12th run on Sunday. However, even more disheartening was the reappearance of a contact issue--this time the teeter.
