Shameless brag - BC/Yukon Regionals!

Wow, what a great weekend we had at the AAC BC/Yukon Regionals but boy was it hot for around here! Temperatures went from the low teens all the way to the high 20's in a couple of days and neither dogs nor handlers had time to adapt. (for those of you on the farenheidt system that's the high 80's).

Phoenix & Xena,Lesson 14, Full Course

This is both dogs doing the full course.  Actually I found this one to be the easiest of the three.  Xena had a little touble with me layering the 2nd tunnel but that was just me not telling her soon enough.  I tried the serpentine after the weaves from both sides but it worked better on the landing side for both my dogs.

Xena - Lesson 13

Xena did very well on this exercise, I don't think she missed any of the entries.  However, it helps when they aren't going quite as fast ;)

Phoenix (Xena) PAC Trial

Well, Xena had a fantastic weekend with 11 out of 12 clean runs!  Phoenix, well, that's another story.  We had tons of fun but some really awful runs which for some reason, I'm sharing with everyone, lol!  Olga, the masters standard course was really tough.  We muddled our way through the first 10 obstacles but after the dw, I couldn't find a good way to handle it.

Phoenix & Xena, Lesson 11, Exercise 4

The backing up seemed especially useful for the last 3 obstacles of this sequence.  Really worked to pull them off the tunnel and then off the off course jump.  It is a weird feeling not knowing whether you are backing up in the right direction.

Phoenix & Xena, Lesson 11, Exercise 3

I don't know if our set up was exact or not, but i found that a f/c before the double or a lead out inviting the dog into your right side worked better, particularly for Xena, to get more drive to the tunnel.  I tried to do 2 f/c's after the aframe instead of a r/c with Xena but the 2nd one was late, may have still been faster though.  I don't think I could get there with Phoenix.

Phoenix & Xena,Lesson 11, Exercise 2

I couldn't remember when Gerhard and I were out at the barn whether Olga suggested a f/c after the double the 2nd time on the way to the last 2 jumps.  I tried it both ways.  The backing up at jump # 6 worked very well to get a tight turn.  I think I was going too far in to jump # 8 and making the turn back to the double harder.  It would have been a lot worse without the barn wall!  The walls are my friend ;).  We did have a slightly condensed version of the lesson as the barn is only about 65 feet wide.  It was especially challenging with the tire only about 10 ft from the wa
