Yankee - Beyond the Claw

Now that the hoopla around the the claw has died down a bit, ;-).. I want to take an opportunity to bring your attention to what lies beyond the claw.. I joke around and call it "the two hands handling".. What it really is, is a continious stream of direction, conveyed to the dog by any and all means you have available (body, arms, hands, voice, etc.)

Yankee's AKC Debut

Yang Yang, my teenage noisemaker, has made his debut in AKC Agility on December 16th, 2006.

It's been six and a half years since I started a new dog of my own. Going to the startline with Yankee for the first time was very exciting and running him was great fun!

Here are the links to Yang Yang's debut runs on home video:

Lesson 4a - Attention with Olga & Yankee

In the first video for lesson 4, we continue the discussion that has been taking place online about attention, your dog and agility.

Olga talks about NRM (No reward marker) and how she uses it in her training. In a lot of the video lessons, you will see the student still throw the ball even though things didn't go as planned. So on the surface this seems contradictory to many people.

Hopefully this video will shed light on the situation. Enjoy the larger video screen, same kilobytes a second!
