Freddie's first AKC trial

Hi,
It's been a while since I've posted....life has been really busy...we haven't entered any trials since the two USDAA in August, just training in between the other stuff I 'have' to do (darn it!!!).
This weekend Freddie and I were entered in a local AKC trial, which was our first. I have to say it was pretty overwhelming at first....the last AKC trial I was entered in was with my Aussie Gus, (at least 3 years ago, if not more), and since he measures just under 25" at the shoulder, he never had to be measured. So this time around, I felt a little like the kid on their first day of kindergarten....where do I go.....what do I do......Â
Once I figured it out, and we got measured and checked in, it started feeling a little more familiar!Results-wise, I couldn't be much happier. We've been working a lot on drive, back crosses, and go-on's, and those things have improved so much! I'm also feeling like our teamwork is so much better.
I'm uploading the Novice B JWW from today. It was a fun and flowy course, 107 yards. Freddie finished it in 17.16 seconds, with a 1st place. FUN FUN FUN!Â
The other courses were also fun....yesterday we finished 1st in Std, and but for an extra jump in JWW, would have finished 1st in JWW. Today in Std, he finished 2nd. A big thanks to Olga for her advice on handling in the courses...the front cross I didn't get in resulted in the 'extra jump' in yesterday's JWW!Â
Olga and Tim (and Tracy on Saturday) hung out to cheer us on and support our Novice efforts, both of which were the last classes of the day. It was especially nice of them, since they were in Excellent, the first classes of the day. It is another reminder of the best thing about agility....the people I've met along the way! We had a great time, and I look forward to our future trials, very much!

Re: Freddie's first AKC trial
I want to add my congratulations to Becky and Fred Dog on their AKC debut.
Well, you can tell that team Becky and Freddie is looking very well heeled in skills and teamwork.. way beyond the novice requirements.
But I am the most proud of the fact that Becky and Freddie are enjoying themselves at the trials and are not at all nervous. They attack the courses without reservation applying the skills they have worked on with diligence, and they have a good time before, between and after the runs, with Freddie playing with his support crew (you know, Yang Yang and the likes).
To all of you guys: please don't lose the sight of having a good time at trials, even if you are trying out for the WT..
Olga.

Re: Freddie's first AKC trial
Thanks everyone, for your comments! We did have a good time!
I feel really fortunate that all four courses were a lot of fun.
It is also really cool that Freddie seems to be "in the game" now...he wants to DO IT, and the foundation we've worked so hard on is what is making it look smooth. It is TOTALLY worth all the effort!
Thanks again!
Becky
