Wisp on the dog walk

newfire's picture

Wisp has been allowed / encouraged to jump on the dogwalk at low height from a variety of places so that she felt comfortable interacting with the equipment.  We had to be careful to block her access to the DW when it was set low because she would leap on and race over.  So being invited to run over the DW set low was a real treat!  Mindful of Luz's request we filmed 4 DWs ....pippen was tired after his efforts at the trial today so we didn't get good video of him.  I will video wisp turning next! ....elizabeth

Re: Wisp on the dog walk

Alright, Wisp!

Luz and I just finished watching your DW game - what fun! Good stay at the start too! Way to go, girlie!

Elizabeth, before you add handler movement to her running the low DW, please put a hoop at the end. She does know how to run through a hoop, right?

Also, he UP contact, I can't realy see how Wisp gets on the DW from this video, but there seems to be a little too much of an effort on the uptake.. Have you worked on the up contact with her at all? If not, the time to start is now..

Welcome to the open dogs' "UP Contact Hell"! LOL.

Olga.

Re: Wisp on the dog walk

Time to get out the pool noodles!  (my hoops)  I did another series with Wisp using the hit it board (which she loves).  My impression is that she is striding on throught the yellow pretty steadily, however I think I will put hoops on both ends to help get her to hit the up with her front feet (she is switching back and forth between hitting the ups with her front and with her rear.
